ESTABLISHED IN 1983

At Carlton House Dental we offer dentistry with a difference. The range of treatments offered have all been thoroughly researched to exceed the trust and professional care that you would expect and deserve.

Carlton House offers a private service, which enables us to spend more time with each patient. We take time to talk with you to understand your specific needs and requirements. We can then offer various treatment and options that would suit you as an individual.

We put you in control of your treatment plan, offering advice and information to make sure you are fully informed as to the best options for your circumstances.

We make full use of digital cameras and x-rays so we can show you exactly what the problem is and where the treatment is to be done (or, if you prefer, just lie back and listen to some music!). Both downstairs surgeries have ceiling mounted TV’s for patients.

We regard it as the greatest honour when our patient’s fall asleep during treatment!

The inside of the practice has been designed with you in mind. From the friendly open reception desks to the comfortable waiting area. For families we have a Lego table for the children and a play box of toys suitable for very small children.

Our individual surgeries meet the highest standard of hygiene and professional oral care. Our autoclaves that sterilize our instruments are placed in separate areas’ outside the surgeries, for your safety and comfort.

Carlton House has been designed to relax and reassure you throughout your treatment. With reception, seating area and two surgeries on the ground floor, access is easy for those with limited mobility.

Existing Patients

Back in 1995 thanks to the work of a Swedish Dental Professor we started risk assessments for dental decay and gum disease. Today we also risk assess for tooth wear and the risk of oral cancer.
Our aim is to keep healthy people healthy. To this end the highest risk controls how frequently we ask you to attend for recall examinations and the all-important regular hygienist visits.

New Patients

To start with we are not judgemental and we have always seen a worse case so there is never anything to be embarrassed about. What we do is take time to get to know what you actually want from us whether it is pain relief, the ability to eat, a health issue such as bleeding gums or headaches; or a cosmetic concern.

We take a Holistic approach and rather like building a house, the foundations, the gums and bone supporting the teeth, are our initial focus. This is why we employ three hygienists and have them available for evening and Saturday appointments. Our aim is to have patients who are going to retain their teeth, so to have pink and healthy gums with minimal bleeding and no loss of the surrounding bone.

Here at Carlton House Dental, we are acutely aware that such general systemic diseases such as diabetes, require us to take a very proactive approach and that is where our concept of “Risk Assessment” starts.

Dentistry for Under Eighteens

The use of bacteriological sampling of bacteria from a five year olds mouth has enabled us to achieve our goal of our child patients reaching adulthood (age of 18) with no tooth restorations. This is achieved through the use of regular hygienist visits. Our results show that we are currently 95% successful in this aim.

In 1992 our senior partner Steve Cuthew made the decision to no longer use silver dental amalgam fillings on children. The new white filling materials allow us to practice minimal interventive dentistry allowing the dentist to keep the cavity as small as achievable. This has the spin-off of making the filling last longer.
